In the Loire Valley for my 30th birthday.

I am an Assistant Professor at the Mathematics Department of the University of Illinois at Chicago. I finished my DPhil in Mathematics at the University of Oxford, in January 2013.  My thesis is titled "Spectral data for G-Higgs bundles", and was done under the supervision of  Nigel Hitchin.

During 2015 and 2016 I’ll be organizing a few research meetings.

My research is partially supported by the NSF grant DMS-1509693.

Biography...

I was born in 1985, and raised in Argentina. My mother, Patricia Massolo, was a nuclear physicist (1950-1993), and my father, Fidel A. Schaposnik , is a theoretical physicist working at the University of La Plata, UNLP (since 1995 he has been writing has a greatcooking book!). I grew up with my brother, Fidel I. Schaposnik, who is now working towards his doctorate in theoretical physics at the UNLP (Look at his first paper here!ArXiv:1301.3412 hep-th).

I started studying piano in 1993, and in 2003 I begun music studies (FoBa) at theConservatory Gilardo Gilardi, the Music Conservatory of La Plata, Argentina, where I studied until 2007.

From 2004 to 2008 I was an undergraduate student at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina. I obtained my degree of Licenciada en Matematica (equivalent to a Master´s degree in Maths) under the supervision of Jorge Solomin - my thesis was on a symplectic approach to Lagrangian mechanics.

From 2008 to 2012 I did my graduate studies at New College, University of Oxford, under the supervision of  Nigel Hitchin. My research was in Differential and Algebraic Geometry, studying surface group representations into real forms by means of Higgs bundles and their spectral data. I graduated in 2013 with my thesis "Spectral data for G-Higgs bundles"

From 2012 to 2013 I held my first Post-Doctoral position as a Wissenschaftlicher Assistent, at Heidelberg University, Germany, working in Anna Wienhard´s Differential Geometry Research Group. My second post-doc was during 2013-2015, as a J. L. Doob Research Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

In 2013 I begun a Project 365, intended to collect one photo each day during a year,  reflecting what I believe is an interesting, although possibly un-noticeable, situation - and also sometimes tiny things I hear, read or learn. Bellow you can find the sets of photos from 2013, and from 2014 (with the lovely music of my friend Rebcca Rego)
